Medina Township is a township located in Lenawee County, Michigan. As of the 2000 census, the township had a total population of 1,227.

Geography

United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 123.4 km² (47.6 mi²). 123.2 km² (47.6 mi²) of it is land and 0.2 km² (0.1 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.15% water.

Demographics

census of 2000, there are 1,227 people, 451 households, and 357 families residing in the township. The population density is 10.0/km² (25.8/mi²). There are 484 housing units at an average density of 3.9/km² (10.2/mi²). The racial makeup of the township is 98.04% White, 0.49% African American, 0.08% Native American, 0.16% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.33% from other races, and 0.90% from two or more races. 1.71% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 451 households out of which 31.9% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 66.7% are married couples living together, 6.7% have a female householder with no husband present, and 20.8% are non-families. 18.2% of all households are made up of individuals and 9.1% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.69 and the average family size is 3.04. In the township the population is spread out with 25.3% under the age of 18, 8.4% from 18 to 24, 25.1% from 25 to 44, 26.8% from 45 to 64, and 14.3% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 40 years. For every 100 females there are 116.0 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 108.7 males. The median income for a household in the township is $40,347, and the median income for a family is $44,519. Males have a median income of $31,493 versus $23,889 for females.
