Main Page | See live article | Alphabetical index Mount Elbert, in Colorado, at 14,433 feet from sea level, is the highest peak in the Rocky Mountains within the lower 48 United States. Elbert is the second highest mountain in the continental states after Mount Whitney, in California, and is but 61 feet shorter than Whitney's 14,494 feet.
