The NES Max was a controller that was released by Nintendo. It was the shape of a "newer" controller in that it was "bent" in in the sides so that it fit better in your hand. Like other late-release controllers, its specialty was in the direction control part of the controller: a red button like the "a" or "b" button was in the center of a larger red circle. The smaller button could move in any direction and could "easily do a circle". The controller was smaller in width than a regular controller and was slightly thinner. It also featured turbo'ed "A" and "B" buttons in addition to the standard buttons.

The Max's official Nintendo part number was NES-027.
