North Towanda Township is a township located in Bradford County, Pennsylvania. As of the 2000 census, the township had a total population of 927.

Geography

\nAccording to the
United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 23.5 km² (9.1 mi²). 22.9 km² (8.9 mi²) of it is land and 0.6 km² (0.2 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 2.53% water.

Demographics

\nAs of the
census of 2000, there are 927 people, 402 households, and 244 families residing in the township. The population density is 40.4/km² (104.7/mi²). There are 431 housing units at an average density of 18.8/km² (48.7/mi²). The racial makeup of the township is 98.17% White, 0.32% African American, 0.32% Native American, 0.43% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 0.76% from two or more races. 0.54% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 402 households out of which 24.6% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 53.7% are married couples living together, 4.5% have a female householder with no husband present, and 39.1% are non-families. 37.3% of all households are made up of individuals and 26.9% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.19 and the average family size is 2.86. In the township the population is spread out with 20.1% under the age of 18, 3.8% from 18 to 24, 19.1% from 25 to 44, 27.7% from 45 to 64, and 29.3% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 49 years. For every 100 females there are 81.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 77.3 males. The median income for a household in the township is $31,641, and the median income for a family is $53,375. Males have a median income of $38,125 versus $24,375 for females.
