Operation Rosario was the name given to the Argentine invasion of the Falkland Islands on the morning of 1 April, 1982.

The Argentines claim the islands as part of their national territory based on ancient land grants despite the fact that those living on the islands feel themselves to be British. The colonial governor and the small garrison was forced to surrender within hours of the initial landings.

The British government under Margaret Thatcher launched a massive expedition (Operation Corporate) which regained control of the colony seventy-four days later.
