Owosso is a city located in Shiawassee County, Michigan. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 15,713.

census of 2000, there are 15,713 people, 6,340 households, and 4,076 families residing in the city. The population density is 1,225.6/km² (3,174.5/mi²). There are 6,724 housing units at an average density of 524.5/km² (1,358.4/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 97.02% White, 0.17% African American, 0.60% Native American, 0.38% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.76% from other races, and 1.08% from two or more races. 2.96% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 6,340 households out of which 33.5% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 45.0% are married couples living together, 14.6% have a female householder with no husband present, and 35.7% are non-families. 29.8% of all households are made up of individuals and 12.6% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.45 and the average family size is 3.03. In the city the population is spread out with 27.3% under the age of 18, 9.8% from 18 to 24, 29.4% from 25 to 44, 19.9% from 45 to 64, and 13.5% who are 65 years of age or older.
