In November, 1993 Pannon GSM Telecommunications Ltd. signed the concession agreement, in March, 1994 started to operate on 900 MHz frequency. In 1999 the company won the tender for the 1800 MHz frequency, in November, 2000 it started to operate on 1800 MHz in Budapest, in March, 2001 in the whole country. The network is accessible in 99% of the territory of Hungary. The number of the switching centres is 13 and more than 1500 base stations are operating. The company's revenue in 2001 was HUF 132,8 billion, the pre-tax profit was HUF 18,7 billion. The number of staff exceeded the figure of 1700. Shareholder: - Telenor Mobile 100%. ˇ On 31th of January, 2003 the number of subscribers was 2,627,000, so Pannon GSM's share of the Hungarian mobile market, which is shared by 3 players, is about 40%.
