Paul Guldin, original name Habakkuk Guldin, born on June 12, 1577 in St. Gallen, Switzerland, died on November 3, 1643, mathematician and astronomer. Discovered the Guldinus theorem to determine the surface and the volume of a solid of rotation. This theorem was known in ancient times as Pappus's theorem.

He has been a professor of mathematics in Graz and Vienna.
