J. Paul Hogan (born August 7, 1919 in Lowes, Kentucky) invented in 1951 with his fellow research chemist Robert Banks "crystalline polypropylene" and "high-density polyethylene" (HDPE). These plastics were initially known as Malex. He joined the Phillips Petroleum company in 1944 and worked there til he retired in 1985.

In 1987 he got together with Robert Banks the Perkin Medal Award.

Paul Hogan (born October 8, 1939 in Sydney, Australia). Australian actor/comedian. He began life as a painter working on the Sydney Harbour Bridge, and then he became a comedian in the 1970s. He had a commercial success with The Paul Hogan Show, a sketch comedy program that ran for several years in 60 parts, and then he moved to the big screen where he became famous as Crocodile Dundee in the string of movies of the same name. Married 1990 to Linda Kozlowski. He has been mistaken for Clint Eastwood.
