Pax Cultura or cultural peace is the motto of the art protection movement founded by Nicholas Roerich. The magenta and white banner consisting of three solid circles in a surrounding circle was meant to fly over buildings and sites of great cultural heritage to protect them during war or other international conflict. The symbol is known as the Red Cross of culture. The United States signed the Roerich Pact in 1945.
