Pecos is a village located in San Miguel County, New Mexico. As of the 2000 census, the village had a total population of 1,441.

census of 2000, there are 1,441 people, 542 households, and 383 families residing in the village. The population density is 319.8/km² (830.3/mi²). There are 628 housing units at an average density of 139.4/km² (361.9/mi²). The racial makeup of the village is 68.91% White, 0.21% African American, 1.39% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.21% Pacific Islander, 26.51% from other races, and 2.78% from two or more races. 80.08% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 542 households out of which 39.3% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 49.1% are married couples living together, 14.9% have a female householder with no husband present, and 29.2% are non-families. 24.2% of all households are made up of individuals and 6.1% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.63 and the average family size is 3.15. In the village the population is spread out with 29.7% under the age of 18, 10.1% from 18 to 24, 29.6% from 25 to 44, 21.8% from 45 to 64, and 8.8% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 32 years. For every 100 females there are 99.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 99.0 males. The median income for a household in the village is $30,549, and the median income for a family is $33,828. Males have a median income of $28,625 versus $22,500 for females.
