Dr. Pedro J. Rosselló is a former Governor of Puerto Rico. He held that position from 1993 to 2001. Rosselló was the President of the New Progressive Party from 1991 to 1999. He was also President of The Council Of State Governments as well as Chairman of the Southern Governors Association. Rosselló is also a former pediatric surgeon. Rosselló resided in New York, where he taught at Cambridge University. He is the uncle of Roy Rosselló.

While governor, Rosselló concentrated on trying to bring international companies to invest in Puerto Rico and fighting crime. He made a number of economic and social changes in Puerto Rico, dropping unemployment rates from nearly 20% to 9.2%, and implementing multi-sectorial initiatives that stimulated the economy.

As well, he was essential in completing his promises of a Health Care System, the first in the Nation, over 50,000 of new homes for the poor, over 200,000 new jobs and more infrastructure projects than any administration in the past 20 years.

In 2004 he will run again for the post of Governor.
