\nAccording to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 15,715 km² (6,068 mi²). 15,635 km² (6,037 mi²) of it is land and 80 km² (31 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.51% water.

The racial makeup of the county is 77.69% White, 5.35% Black or African American, 3.42% Native American, 0.63% Asian, 0.22% Pacific Islander, 9.38% from other races, and 3.30% from two or more races. 19.33% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 1,962 households out of which 38.40% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 57.20% are married couples living together, 7.30% have a female householder with no husband present, and 29.50% are non-families. 24.30% of all households are made up of individuals and 8.60% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.69 and the average family size is 3.22. In the county the population is spread out with 25.70% under the age of 18, 8.50% from 18 to 24, 36.00% from 25 to 44, 22.10% from 45 to 64, and 7.80% who are 65 years of age or older.
