It was founded in 1983, when two teams, Club Deportivo Ensidesa and Real Avilés C.F. merged. The team currently plays in the Tercera División. Kit is white shirts with broad blue vertical stripes and blue shorts. Home stadium is the Nuevo Román Suárez Puerta that seats 5,200 spectators. The best season for Real Avilés was the 1990-91 campaign, where, having been promoted the previous season, the team achieved ninth place in the Segunda División.
