A Regierungsbezirk< (administrative region or administrative district, which should not be confused with "district") is a subdivision of some Bundesländer in Germany. It is itself divided into districts (Kreis) or equivalent city (kreisfreie Stadt).

The sixteen states are divided into 32 Regierungsbezirke, ranging in population from 5.3 million (Düsseldorf) to 500,000 (Trier). Not all states have this sub-division, some are directly divided into districts.
