The Reliant Kitten Register, poorly named as it happens, exists to provide a point of contact, not only for owners and enthusiasts of Reliant Kittens, but also all the other under 1 litre 4 wheeled Reliant built or based vehicles. Formed in 1991, there are now over 400 cars on the register, (1997.)

The Register has subscribers in Portugal, France, Holland, Belgium and Germany, as well as the U.K. Even within the U.K. we can boast subscribers from the Channel Islands to the Orkneys and Shetlands.

The intentions of the Register are to keep track of as many of these fine little cars as possible. At the same time giving their owners a means of communication. A bi-monthly 14 page A4 Magazine (The Mewsletter) is sent to subscribers. The sourcing of difficult spare parts and provision of technical information are prime priorities. Subscription is currently just £12.00 (gbp) per year (March 2003).

There were just 2600 Reliant Rebels built between 1964 and 1974, and only 4,000 Reliant Kittens and 1,000 Reliant Foxes built. Just the 6 Ciphers, which Tony Steven produced, though another one, or possibly two were assembled from parts. About 150 Jimps were built, and a smaller number of Salamanders. Tempest production reached the 20's, and a number of other specials have been built, including the Vantique and Ascquith vans, both by companies and individuals. The Liege being the most recent and currently produced.

The facts that some people have fitted alternative engines to their Rebels and Reliant Kittens ranging from the Talbot Sunbeam (Hillman Imp) unit through Fiat 16OOce twin cam, and Peugeot 1.9 diesel, to a range of V8 devices gives you some idea of just how strong and adaptable the Reliant chassis is.

For further information, please send a C5 s.a.e. with a 39p (UK) ( or equivalent overseas) stamp on it to the Registrar (and all round Good Egg!)
