The British band Republica first became widely noticed in 1996 after releasing the single Ready To Go.

The members of Republica are:

  • Saffron - Vocals
  • Tim Dorney - Keyboard
  • Johnny Male - Guitar
  • (Pete Riley - Drums)

The Republica sound was described by Saffron as "techno-pop punk rock".

Saffron was born in Nigeria, and hails Portuguese, Chinese and English ancestry.

They produced two albums, Republica (released on the 30th July, 1996 in the UK), and Speed Ballads (5th October, 1998).

As of 2003, they are not currently recording together, with Saffron now working on a new band called Swarm Swarm. Tim recently got back together with fellow former Flowered Up band member Liam Maher, but split up in late 2002. Johnny went off to a band called Cheap Glue - no word on what they're doing.
