River Oaks Elementary is a school which draws from students from the entire Houston Independent School District (HISD) area.

The school is located at 2008 Kirby Drive in the city of Houston, Texas.

River Oaks Elementary is located in the "prestigous neighborhood" of River Oaks. River Oaks is partly a Vanguard School, and partly a Neighborhood School that attracts Public School students from the River Oaks area.

The school has about 600 students and it handles Kindergarten through fifth grade. The current principal of the school is Kelly McBride.

River Oaks Elementary has a "nature center", which opened in 1990, which has various plants as well as several insects and smaller animals in it. The school also has a hydroponics laboratory and an urban harvest garden.

The school is getting overcrowded, as evident with the many temporary buildings around the campus.

The school's mascot is the River Oaks Roadrunner. The school, like other elementary schools in HISD, has no formal sports teams. The school's motto is "where learning is elementary".

River Oaks Elementary is celebrating its 75th anniversary in the 2003-2004 school year.
