It is located southeast of the downtown, bounded roughly on the west by the Rideau River, on the north by Industrial Ave, on the east by Russell Road, and on the south Smyth Road. The neighbourhood was primarly built in the 50's during the baby boom era, but there are very new developments, especially near Station Blvd, and Avalon Place, as well as on Bathurst Ave, Rolland St, and on Smyth, and commercial development at the Ottawa Life Sciences Technology Park. Riverview is home to a variety of schools, and parks, and a wide variety of social classes. There are many apartment buildings in Riverview, specifically on Riverside, Alta Vista and on Russell Road. There are also many townhouses. Riverview is home to CHEO (Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario) as well as the Ottawa General Hospital, and many other medical facilitis, including the Perly-Rideau Veteran's Hospital.
