Route 66 State park is located on top of the area where Times Beach used to be. It is a 419 acre park located less than 1 mile east of Eureka Missouri.

Fields of wild grass and brush grow from where the homes of evacuated residents used to live. Deserted streets line the park and hint at what once was a resort community in west Saint Louis county. The park has very few accommodations and is rather plain as far as Missouri state parks go.

There is a visitor center located in the old Bridgehead Inn that has photos and memorabilia of structures along route 66 in the Saint Louis area which have been torn down and replaced by modern shopping centers and strip malls. The visitor center also contains a state friendly interpretation of the ecological disaster, the worst in the state, and 20 year clean up of the area.

The park is accessible from interstate 44 at the visitor center.
