Samuel Francis is a former Washington Times columnist dismissed from that paper in 1995 for remarks made before the 1994 annual meeting of the American Renaissance, a racialist organization run by Jared Taylor, which were deemed racist by the management of the Times. The Anti-Defamation League, among others, has branded Francis an advocate of "well mannered white supremacy," while Francis and his defenders maintain that he is persecuted for speaking truth to power. Francis is associate editor and book review editor of Occidental Quarterly, a pro-eugenics, racialist journal edited by Kevin Lamb and sponsored by William Regnery. He also serves on the board of editors of Modern Age, a quarterly publication of the Intercollegiate Studies Institute that bills itself as "the principal quarterly of the intellectual right" and which serves as an important outlet for the expression of paleoconservative views. Francis continues to write a syndicated column and is a speaker at meetings of the American Renaissance and the Council of Conservative Citizens.
