Sanborn is a city located in Redwood County, Minnesota. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 434.

Geography

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 5.5 km² (2.1 mi²). 5.5 km² (2.1 mi²) of it is land and none of it is covered by water.

Demographics

As of the census of 2000, there are 434 people, 179 households, and 127 families residing in the city. The population density is 78.7/km² (203.8/mi²). There are 199 housing units at an average density of 36.1/km² (93.4/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 99.08% White, 0.00% African American, 0.92% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 0.00% from two or more races. 0.69% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 179 households out of which 31.8% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 60.9% are married couples living together, 6.1% have a female householder with no husband present, and 28.5% are non-families. 27.4% of all households are made up of individuals and 16.8% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.42 and the average family size is 2.93.

In the city the population is spread out with 26.3% under the age of 18, 8.3% from 18 to 24, 21.2% from 25 to 44, 22.6% from 45 to 64, and 21.7% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 40 years. For every 100 females there are 100.0 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 102.5 males.
