A boneless cut of meat, sometimes breaded. Usually a thin cutlet of veal or pork, although poultry filets can also be called Schnitzel. A well-known type of Schnitzel is the Wiener Schnitzel (Wien = Vienna) which is a battered and fried veal cutlet. In Germany the Schnitzel is usually served with french fries or potatoes.
