According to the United States Census Bureau, the area has a total area of 36.2 km² (14.0 mi²). 36.1 km² (13.9 mi²) of it is land and 0.1 km² (0.04 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.21% water.

Demographics

As of the census of 2000, there are 35,311 people, 11,633 households, and 9,794 families residing in the area. The population density is 977.3/km² (2,530.8/mi²). There are 11,893 housing units at an average density of 329.2/km² (852.4/mi²). The racial makeup of the area is 86.05% White, 1.16% African American, 0.63% Native American, 7.53% Asian, 0.22% Pacific Islander, 1.27% from other races, and 3.15% from two or more races. 3.02% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 11,633 households out of which 48.0% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 74.4% are married couples living together, 6.9% have a female householder with no husband present, and 15.8% are non-families. 11.2% of all households are made up of individuals and 3.1% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older.
