Secotioid mushrooms lack the geotropic orientation of the hymenophore, and basidiospores are not actively shot off, thus they are statismospores. Perhaps an intermediate stage between hymenomycetes and gasteromycetes where gasteromycetation has occurred. A bottle-neck effect may have been involved.
