Serpico is a 1973 film which tells the true story of a New York City policeman who turned in his fellow policemen for corruption and how his comrades turned against him. It stars Al Pacino, John Randolph and Jack Kehoe.

The movie was adapted by Waldo Salt and Norman Wexler from the book by Peter Maas. It was directed by Sidney Lumet.

It was nominated for Academy Awards for Best Actor in a Leading Role (Al Pacino) and Best Writing, Screenplay Based on Material from Another Medium.

Serpico was made into a 1976 television series starring David Birney.
