Siraj-ud-Dowla, Nawab of Bengal, is famous for being defeated at the battle of Plassey by Robert Clive of the East India Company. He is also famous for ordering the imprisonment of the British garrison in the Black Hole of Calcutta. After the Nawab's defeat at Plassey, largely due to the bribery of his troops by the Britsh, he was replaced as nawab by Meer Jaffeer.
