SNK is a Japanese video game company.

It was started in late 1970s and lasted until its collapse in 2000 due to under-finance. Since then their games have been under the control of another Japanese company, Playmore. It is important to note that SNK has been 'resurrected' since it's demise, employing virtually the same staff of 2000 under the name 'SNK Playmore Corporation'.

SNK stands for "Shin Nihon Kihaku," translated to "New Japan Project."

SNK has been behind the following games, among others:

  • Art of Fighting series
  • Athena
  • Fatal Fury series
  • Ikari Warriors series
  • King of Fighters series
  • Last Blade series
  • Metal Slug series
  • Psycho Soldiers
