South Bend is a city located in Pacific County, Washington. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 1,807. It is the county seat of Pacific County6.

There are 815 housing units at an average density of 173.9/km² (450.7/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 83.45% White, 0.17% African American, 3.71% Native American, 4.93% Asian, 0.17% Pacific Islander, 3.76% from other races, and 3.82% from two or more races. 9.24% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 702 households out of which 29.5% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 52.3% are married couples living together, 10.0% have a female householder with no husband present, and 32.9% are non-families. 26.9% of all households are made up of individuals and 13.0% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.48 and the average family size is 3.02. In the city the population is spread out with 26.4% under the age of 18, 7.7% from 18 to 24, 23.6% from 25 to 44, 24.1% from 45 to 64, and 18.2% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 39 years. For every 100 females there are 94.9 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 94.7 males.
