Sparta is a town located in Monroe County, Wisconsin. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 2,750.
As of the census of 2000, there are 2,750 people, 925 households, and 745 families residing in the town. The population density is 21.6/km² (55.8/mi²). There are 967 housing units at an average density of 7.6 persons/km² (19.6 persons/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 98.80% White, 0.04% African American, 0.18% Native American, 0.44% Asian, 0.04% Pacific Islander, 0.07% from other races, and 0.44% from two or more races. 0.33% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 925 households out of which 36.5% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 72.0% are married couples living together, 5.3% have a woman whose husband does not live with her, and 19.4% are non-families. 14.3% of all households are made up of individuals and 5.8% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older.
