Spelman College is a four-year liberal-arts college for women in Atlanta, Georgia. Founded in 1881, the historically black institution began as the Atlanta Baptist Female Seminary. Located on a 32-acre campus, the college is part of the Atlanta University Center academic consortium.

Notable alumni include Marian Wright Edelman, the founder of the Children's Defense Fund and Pulitzer Prize-winning novelist Alice Walker.
