census of 2000, there are 2,062 people, 773 households, and 586 families residing in the city. The population density is 288.5/km² (747.4/mi²). There are 842 housing units at an average density of 117.8/km² (305.2/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 95.68% White, 0.48% African American, 0.34% Native American, 0.19% Asian, 0.19% Pacific Islander, 1.94% from other races, and 1.16% from two or more races. 3.39% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 773 households out of which 37.8% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 60.2% are married couples living together, 12.3% have a female householder with no husband present, and 24.1% are non-families. 21.2% of all households are made up of individuals and 11.6% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.66 and the average family size is 3.06. In the city the population is spread out with 28.5% under the age of 18, 9.4% from 18 to 24, 28.9% from 25 to 44, 20.4% from 45 to 64, and 12.8% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 34 years. For every 100 females there are 94.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 86.6 males.
