Stanton is a city located in Mercer County, North Dakota. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 345. It is the county seat of Mercer County6.

Demographics

As of the census of 2000, there are 345 people, 159 households, and 107 families residing in the city. The population density is 283.4/km² (739.9/mi²). There are 198 housing units at an average density of 162.7/km² (424.7/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 95.65% White, none African American, 1.74% Native American, 0.58% Asian, 0.29% Pacific Islander, 0.29% from other races, and 1.45% from two or more races. 0.29% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 159 households out of which 23.3% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 59.1% are married couples living together, 3.8% have a female householder with no husband present, and 32.7% are non-families. 30.2% of all households are made up of individuals and 13.8% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.13 and the average family size is 2.58.
