Starman (1984; see also 1984 in film) is a science fiction film which tells the story of an alien from another planet who takes on the image of the dead husband of a young widow, and kidnaps her to help him travel to where he can meet up with a space ship to take him home. It stars Jeff Bridges, Karen Allen, Charles Martin Smith and Richard Jaeckel.

The movie was written by Bruce A. Evans, Raynold Gideon and Dean Riesner (uncredited). It was directed by John Carpenter. Bridges was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actor.

Starman was made into a television series in 1986, starring Robert Hays and Christopher Daniel Barnes.
