Stefan Rowecki (pseudonym: Grot, hence called Stefan Grot-Rowecki) December 25th 1895 in Piotrkow Trybunalski, died in August 1944 in Sachsenhausen. General of Polish army, leader of Polish resistance.

During World War I fought in first brigade of Polish legions. Interned in 1917. Since 1918 in Polish army. Fought in Polish-Soviet war (1919-1920). In 1930-1935 commander of 55 regiment of infantry in Leszno. In Jun 1939 organised and then lead Warsaw Panzer-Motorised Brigade. In October 1939 on of leader SZP, in 1940 commendant of Zwiazek Walki Zbrojnej, since 1942 commendant of Armia Krajowa (Home Army). In 1941 created organization for sabotages Wachlarz. In 1943 arrested by Gestapo. Murdered probably in concentration camp in Sachsenhausen.
