The TAR-21 is a modern Israeli assault rifle. The name "TAR-21" stands for "Tavor Assault Rifle - 21st Century". The TAR-21 advance model Tavor 2 was selected as the future assult rifle of the Israeli Defence Forces and within the next few years it will become the standard infantry weapon.

The TAR-21 utillitizes the bullpup design which enables to produce a short rifle while still maintaining a long barrel (which is essential for mainting firepower and accuracy for long ranges). In this design, the magazine and the fire mechanism are allocated in the stock while the trigger and the hand-guards are in the front.

The TAR-21 design based strongly on advance human engineering (ergonomics) and comopsite materials in order to produce more comfortable and reliable rifle. The TAR-21 is waterproof and lighter than an M-4 Carbine. It also includes an advance Rafael sight and can be mounted with different scopes, night vision systems and other electronic devices.

As many other familes of assult rifles, the TAR-21 assults rifle come in different variations: standart, micro (extremely short), commando and sharpshooter.

The TAR-21 was distributed to Givati Brigade troops during Operation Defensive Shield and recieved highly favorable reviews.
