The Collector is a 1965 film which tells the story of a man who kidnaps a young woman and keeps her hostage to add to his collection, which started out with butterflys and expanded to people. It stars Terence Stamp and Samantha Eggar.

The movie was adapted by Stanley Mann and John Kohn from the novel by John Fowles. It was directed by William Wyler.

It was nominated for Academy Awards for Best Actress in a Leading Role (Samantha Eggar), Best Director (William Wyler) and Best Writing, Screenplay Based on Material from Another Medium.
