Tolono is a village located in Champaign County, Illinois. As of the 2000 census, the village had a total population of 2,700.

census of 2000, there are 2,700 people, 1,083 households, and 753 families residing in the village. The population density is 557.5/km² (1,444.4/mi²). There are 1,137 housing units at an average density of 234.8/km² (608.3/mi²). The racial makeup of the village is 97.78% White, 0.30% African American, 0.52% Native American, 0.15% Asian, 0.11% Pacific Islander, 0.37% from other races, and 0.78% from two or more races. 0.93% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 1,083 households out of which 36.3% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 55.6% are married couples living together, 10.3% have a female householder with no husband present, and 30.4% are non-families. 26.1% of all households are made up of individuals and 9.7% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.49 and the average family size is 2.99. In the village the population is spread out with 27.4% under the age of 18, 6.7% from 18 to 24, 33.5% from 25 to 44, 21.4% from 45 to 64, and 11.0% who are 65 years of age or older.
