Transcaucasian Iberia is the term designated to the first Kingdom of Iberia established in Eastern Georgia by the Iberians or Heberites from the 4th century BC. The term is used to distinguish it from the Iberian peninsula which is usually the first place people think of when they hear the term Iberia.

The Kabard and Avarians still present in the Caucasus may have obtained their ethnonyms from a memory of these related peoples.
