Tromeo and Juliet was the first larger budgeted attempt at movie making by cult B-movie production company Troma pictures. Released in 1996, it is a punk rock adaptation of the William Shakespeare classic, Romeo and Juliet. The movie makers attempted to use gore and sexuality to shock the viewer in much the same was as actors might have done in Shakespeare's time (but with proper adjustments to content to suit the times). The film is popular among cinema gloritiso fans, but even with the larger budget is essentially a glorified violent, hyper-sexual B-movie.

The movie stars Jane Jensen, Will Keenan (a frequent Troma actor), Valentine Miele and Maximillian Shaun. It was adapted by James Gunn and Lloyd Kaufman, and directed by Kaufman and Gunn.
