The Turner Broadcasting System (often abbreviated to TBS) is the company managing the collection of cable networks and properties started by Ted Turner in the mid-1970s. Their current assets include CNN, TBS Superstation, Turner Network Television, Cartoon Network, and the WB Network. TBS is the biggest part of the Turner Entertainment holding company, which was sold to Time Warner in 1996; it now operates as a semi-autonomous unit of Time Warner.
