Two submarines of the United States Navy have borne the name USS Mackerel. Mackerels are a common food and sport fish.

The first USS Mackerel (SS-204), the lead ship of her class, served as a training submarine during World War II.

The second USS Mackerel (SST-1), originally known as T-1, the lead ship of her class, was planned as an auxiliary submarine (AGSS-570) and served as a training and testing submarine during the early years of the Cold War.
