It is generally available only as a hatchback, although in South America and South Africa, there is also a sedan version, as hatchbacks are not as popular in those markets as they are in Europe. The Polo is mechanically very similar to the SEAT Ibiza and Cordoba, produced in Spain, and the previous sedan and wagon versions (Polo Classic and Polo Variant) being almost identical to the SEAT Cordoba.
