The municipality Åfjord in the county of Sør-Trøndelag, Norway, has 3,362 inhabitants as of January 1, 2002.

Åfjord is located on the north-west side of the Fosen Pennisula, located north-west of Trondheim. The major centre of the municipality is Årnes (also called "Å in Åfjord"). All major services in the municipality are located here. Åfjord also has two major salmon rivers; the Nordals elva and Stordals elva. English lords used to fish here in the late 19th century.

People make their living from: Agriculture, forestry, fishing, transportation (sea and land), aquaculture (fish and shellfish), construction, services. The largest employer in the area is Stjern (forestry, sawmill, enterpreneur)
