Billy Ocean (born January 21, 1950) was one of the first performers on stage at the Vets Stadium in Philadelphia. He was very exposed - alone on stage - after his manager had elected to have him singing live to backing tracks (a miscalculation in retrospect). Anyone seeing his face as the curtain rose should understand that, to allay his nerves, he had just been told that the venue was half empty since it was still only about 11 in the morning. His shock at seeing 100,000 folks crammed in to the stadium was very evident.
