The Reverend Fred Nile (born 15 September 1934 is a member of the Legislative Council of New South Wales, Australia and the National President of the Christian Democratic Party. He is known in New South Wales for his conservative Christian views, and particularly for his opposition to the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras. He is married to Elaine Nile and they have four children. He is also the National Co-ordinator and NSW Director, Australian Federation of Festival of Light, a Christian organisation.

Within the state parliament of New South Wales, he holds the following positions:

  • Temporary Chairman of Committees
  • Member of the NSW Legislative Council
  • Standing Committee on Parliamentary Privilege and Ethics
  • Committee on the Independent Commission Against Corruption

In 2003 he resigned from the Uniting Church in Australia when that Church officially decided to openly allow for the ordination of practicing homosexual clergy. He has since rejoined the Congregational Church which ordained him in 1964.
