The Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT) is a technical universities in China, akin to a Virginia Tech or Carnegie Mellon from an American perspective. HIT's main building, "Ju -Lou" is a smaller version of the main building of the University of Moscow and the bulk of the buildings were built during the time of Sino-Soviet friendship from 1949 to 1959 when the Soviets were very active in further developing the North East of China.
