Ibrahim Baré Maïnassara 1950 April 9 1999 was a military officer in the West African country of Niger who overthrew the government of President Mahamane Ousmane in January 1996.

He was elected president in August 1996. On April 9, 1999, he was assassinated during a failed coup by soldiers at the airport in the capital city of Niamey. He was 49 years old.
