The town is the home of Derbyshire county council, and also the Derbyshire Dales district headquarters. Matlock Bath is the southernmost part of Matlock. It was developed as a spa town and still thrives on tourism. Attractions in the town include the Heights of Abraham, Gulliver’s Kingdom theme park, the Derbyshire Mining Museum a petrifying well and an aquarium. The town is also known as a meeting point for motorcyclists. Both Matlock and Matlock Bath are on a rail line to Derby. The Peak Railway runs trains from Matlock to Darley Dale and Rowsley.
