Geography

Mayer is located at 34°25'9" North, 112°14'59" West (34.419154, -112.249779)1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 52.0 km² (20.1 mi²). 52.0 km² (20.1 mi²) of it is land and none of it is covered by water.

Demographics

As of the census2 of 2000, there are 1,408 people, 585 households, and 379 families residing in the town. The population density is 27.1/km² (70.2/mi²). There are 714 housing units at an average density of 13.7/km² (35.6/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 93.82% White, 0.00% Black or African American, 1.21% Native American, 0.21% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 2.63% from other races, and 2.13% from two or more races. 8.95% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 585 households out of which 25.5% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 51.6% are married couples living together, 8.2% have a female householder with no husband present, and 35.2% are non-families. 27.5% of all households are made up of individuals and 13.3% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.41 and the average family size is 2.94.
